Gareth W. Roberts

  • Joined the British Army in 1978, specializing as an instructor, computer systems analyst and programmer. Also served with the intelligence community in various parts of Europe
  • Saw active service in many parts of the world and during the Gulf War as a Nuclear, Biological & Chemical (NBC) Warfare Officer and Instructor.
  • Retired from British Army in1993 and joined the UK Police Service specializing as a Scenes of Crime Officer and police trainer on numerous subjects including nuclear, biological and chemical warfare, counter terrorism issues, trace evidence and crime scene management.
  • Court qualified as an expert witness on numerous occasions.
  • Graduated from both the UK Police Service Staff College and the UK Fire Services Staff College and was invited to sit on the UK National Arson Control Forum Intervention Group.
  • Graduated with BSc (Honours) degree in policing and Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
  • Graduated from Police Staff College with a Certificate in Policing & Legal Matters (international criminal law).
  • Graduated with Masters degree in Forensic Archaeology (incl. forensic & biological anthropology). This supplemented his practical experience in dealing with clandestine graves.
  • Selected as a consultant to the UK Armed Forces Defence Academy (counter terrorism) and became an independent crime scene science consultant and trainer.
  • Designed and implemented two courses on behalf of the UK Government and presented to the Afghan National Police to crime scene investigation teams in various policing and forensic science areas.
  • Published papers on several subjects including presenting to the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
